This car was one of the hardest things I’ve painted. There was no leeway on if it had to look realistic or not, usually I draw organic subjects where it doesn’t matter. But I needed this to look like that specific car, since it’s for my friend who knows everything about cars. I hope he likes it!

Art Chicago

I was able to get free tickets to preview Art Chicago this year. Didn’t get to see nearly everything, but still fell in love with a few pieces.

I was too busy trying to see as much art as I could I didn’t get any artists names or any gallery names or anything. Sorry I suck.

The top painting looked like stamps shaped like jelly beans. I loved the layering affect and how the colors would shine through one another.

This bottom painting is abstract and beautiful. I love all the aggressive colors and motions yet it is still soft and calm to me. I love the wispy flow, it seems like an abstract landscape to me. I might have to attempt this approach next.

I just finished this piece for my canvass maker. He said he wanted a naked lady, so this is what he gets. Every time he’d cross me I’d threaten to paint him a fat ugly naked dude, but I couldn’t follow through. Not sure what to name her yet, but I am open to suggestions.

“Bird”

I fell in love with screen printing back when I took a workshop at Columbia. I have none of the equipment to properly screen print so this is my make-shift version. I used wax paper cutout of the images and placed it on the painted background, working my ways to the foreground. reverse stenciling I guess. The bird was the opposite, or regular stenciling. I liked the clean edge finish (would be clean if i wasn’t so sloppy) and the unveiling effect of ripping off the wax paper to reveal the final piece.

Where have I been? It’s been too long since I’ve been a part of the blogging scene, but I couldn’t avoid it any longer. Having so many blogging friends, all I ever heard about was blogging this and blogging that. I’ve formerly dabbled in the livejournal scene but am ready for a change here.

First things first, I am not a writer. Which may be why my livejournal failed and I lost interest. I find anything with writing to be intimidating; I can’t spell, my grammar is terrible and my vocabulary is that of a fourth grader. I am a visual person, I like pictures. I am an artist.

Painting, drawing, illustrating, photography; they’re what I love. Hey, we all gotta express ourselves right?
